Will now face the Rebels ahead of the second Test, with head coach Warren Gatland having to shuffle his options.

Geoff Parling had been due to skipper the side, however Paul O'Connell's injury means the England lock has been withdrawn with a view to starting against the Wallabies on Saturday.

Without their marquee players as Kurtley Beale, James O'Connor and Nick Phipps are away on international duty.

Rebels:15 Jason Woodward, 14 Tom English, 13 Mitch Inman, 12 Rory Sidey, 11 Lachlan Mitchell, 10 Bryce Hegarty, 9 Luke Burgess, 1 Nic Henderson, 2 Ged Robinson, 3 Laurie Weeks, 4 Cadeyrn Neville, 5 Hugh Pyle, 6 Jarrod Saffy, 7 Scott Fuglistaller, 8 Gareth Delve (c).
Replacements: 16 Pat Leafa, 17 Cruze Ah Nau, 18 Paul Alo-Emile 19 Luke Jones, 20 Jordy Reid, 21 Nic Stirzaker, 22 Angus Roberts, 23 Cooper Vuna.

British and Irish Lions: 15 Rob Kearney, 14 Sean Maitland, 13 Manu Tuilagi, 12 Brad Barritt, 11 Simon Zebo, 10 Owen Farrell, 9 Conor Murray, 1 Ryan Grant, 2 Richard Hibbard, 3 Dan Cole, 4 Richie Gray, 5 Ian Evans, 6 Dan Lydiate (capt), 7 Sean O'Brien, 8 Toby Faletau.

Australia from French Top 14 side with a stated aim of facing the Lions. "Every rugby player's dream is to have the opportunity to play the British & Irish Lions in their home country, and I am very honoured to have been selected to start for the Rebels and get a chance to play them," Burgess said. "Having been in Melbourne a couple of weeks now, I have built some solid combinations with this young playing group, and have enjoyed working alongside Nic Stirzaker in the half-back role.

Melbourne Rebels {{ Player }} Welshman Gareth Delve will be leaving the Rebels at the end of the campaign and he could seal a move back to Europe with a big showing against some familiar foes.

Melbourne Rebels ( Team ) Delve leads the Rebels' 'strongest possible' side with Kurtley Beale, James O'Connor and Nick Phipps in camp with the Wallabies and loose forward Scott Higginbotham sidelined through injury. However, there is international quality in the form of Wallabies No.9 Luke Burgess while Lachlan Mitchell, Tom English and Jason Woodward form the back three. There is further Super Rugby experience in the form of the front row trio of Nic Henderson, Ged Robinson and Laurie Weeks. Delve is joined in the back row by Scott Fuglistaller and Jarrod Saffy while Bryce Hegarty is named at fly-half after recovering from illness.

British & Irish Lions {{ Player }} With Test No.9 Mike Phillips coming in for some criticism in the wake of the Lions' victory over the Wallabies, can Conor Murray deliver a timely performance and force coach Warren Gatland into a change for the second Test?

British & Irish Lions - (Team ) Wales flanker Dan Lydiate will lead the Lions after original skipper Geoff Parling was withdrawn as a result of a tour-ending injury for Test lock Paul O'Connell. Centre Manu Tuilagi is also back from injury and will partner England colleague Brad Barritt in midfield. Rob Kearney is named at fullback, linking with Simon Zebo and Sean Maitland in the back three. Owen Farrell guides the team at fly-half alongside scrum-half Conor Murray. Ryan Grant, Richard Hibbard and Dan Cole are handed starts in the front-row while Ian Evans starts alongside Richie Gray in the second row. Lydiate is named at blindside with Sean O'Brien on the other side of the scrum and Toby Faletau at No.8.

South Africa Springboks vs Samoa Quadrangular Tournament Final
Time: 17:15 local, 15:15 GMT,

Date: 22nd June 2013
AT: Pretoria
Head to Head

The Boks have never lost to Samoa and in South Africa have won 4 from 4. They won 35-8 back in 2007 and 60-18 in 2002 the only meetings in SA this century. The sides have met elsewhere though and in 2011 the Boks battled for a 13-5 win in the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

South Africa host Samoa in Saturday’s quadrangular tournament final in Pretoria looking to make it eight wins on the bounce against the islanders since 1995.

That was the year the Springboks won the World Cup at the first attempt and the last meeting between the countries was at the group stage of the 2011 World Cup with South Africa emerging 13-5 victors, the narrowest winning margin against their opponents.

Both sides go into the tournament decider - which is being shown live on Sky Sports 1 HD at 4.15pm (BST) - unbeaten after wins over Italy and Scotland.

The hosts have made at least two changes to their pack but will wait until the day before to make decisions on the fitness of skipper Jean de Villiers and flanker Willem Alberts.

The Boks had to come from behind to beat Scotland in Nelspruit and bookmakers are only giving the Samoans a 14 point start at Loftus on Saturday.

Samoa have made just a single change to the side that beat Italy 39-10 having beaten Scotland by 10 points the week before. They were very impressive against the Italians especially given that there was plenty of support for Italy at +8.5 but it was one way traffic virtually from the off.

Former Munster centre De Villiers has a chest injury, while flanker Alberts must also pass a fitness test on a side strain if he is to feature.

Jan Serfontein will earn his first start for the Springboks should De Villiers be ruled out as one of up to four changes from the 30-17 win over Scotland.

Siya Kolisi will replace Alberts if the Sharks back row is absent, while openside Francois Louw does return after getting married last week.

Second row Flip van der Merwe is listed to start in the second row for Juandre Kruger, who drops to the bench.
So’oialo returns

Samoa have made one predictable change, with full-back James So’oialo, a late injury withdrawal from the side that beat Italy 39-10 in Nelspruit last weekend, returning in place of Brando Va’aulu, who drops to the bench.

Flanker Piula Faasalele, who made his Test debut as a substitute against the Azzurri, has been left out of the match 23 with Alafoti Fa’osilvia promoted.

Date: Saturday June 22

Venue: Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Kick-off: 8.05pm AEST (11.05am UKST, 10.05 GMT)
Referee: Chris Pollock (New Zealand)
Assistant Referees: Craig Joubert (South Africa), Romain Poite (France)

Australia: It would be wrong to not talk about a Wallaby debutant, but it is not Folau. Christian Lealiifano has been at the heart of the Brumbies resurgence over the last two seasons under Jake White - a transformation that has taken them to the top of the Australian Conference. Lealiifano as a result has come of age, working well either at 10 or 12 and bringing great vision, pace and guile to his backline. It is one majorly daunting task for the uncapped centre to debut against the best from the British Isles, but one he will rise to.

For British and Irish Lions: The Fox. Few expected to see Jonathan Davies wearing the 12 shirt for the Lions when he was selected, but needs must with the injuries to Jamie Roberts and Manu Tuilagi leaving the Lions threadbare in midfield. Davies' inclusion though is no shock - for all of the majesty of O'Driscoll, the Welsh centre has been quite outstanding on this tour throughout. It would have seemed harsh to exclude him regardless of Roberts' fitness. Instead the Lions field an unlikely combination, but two outstanding individual talents.

Head-to-head: Two influential number nines in Will Genia and Mike Phillips. Genia is perhaps best summed up by his absurd try in the 2011 Super Rugby Final - when nothing appears on to everyone else, he will make something happen. Possessing a strong kicking game, not to mention vision, pace and leadership abilities, there is arguably no greater scrum-half in the world other than perhaps Kahn Fotuali'i.

Phillips is a very different beast. At 6 ft 3, his six-inch height advantage is seen as crucial to the Lions success both by containing the fiery Wallaby scrum-half and taking him on when in possession. A capable strike-runner himself, Phillips has that ability needed to turn close Tests if he can find enough space.

Recent Results: 2001: Australia won 29-23 in Sydney, Australia won 35-14 in Melbourne, the Lions won 29-13 in Brisbane. 1989: the Lions won 19-18 in Sydney, the Lions won 19-12 in Brisbane, Australia won 30-12 in Sydney

Prediction: With seven matches on tour under their belt and with the Wallabies coming into this untested, the Lions should have the faster start and with it the victory. Lions by 5!
Australia: 15 Berrick Barnes, 14 Israel Folau, 13 Adam Ashley-Cooper, 12 Christian Leali'ifano, 11 Digby Ioane, 10 James O'Connor, 9 Will Genia, 8 Wycliff Palu, 7 Michael Hooper, 6 Ben Mowen, 5 James Horwill (c), 4 Kane Douglas, 3 Ben Alexander, 2 Stephen Moore, 1 Benn Robinson.
Replacements: 16 Saia Fainga'a, 17 James Slipper, 18 Sekope Kepu, 19 Rob Simmons, 20 Liam Gill, 21 Nick Phipps, 22 Pat McCabe, 23 Kurtley Beale.

British and Irish Lions: 15 Leigh Halfpenny, 14 Alex Cuthbert, 13 Brian O'Driscoll, 12 Jonathan Davies, 11 George North, 10 Jonathan Sexton, 9 Mike Phillips, 8 Jamie Heaslip, 7 Sam Warburton (c), 6 Tom Croft, 5 Paul O'Connell, 4 Alun Wyn Jones, 3 Adam Jones, 2 Tom Youngs, 1 Alex Corbisiero.
Replacements: 16 Richard Hibbard, 17 Makovina Vunipola, 18 Dan Cole, 19 Geoff Parling, 20 Dan Lydiate, 21 Ben Youngs, 22 Owen Farrell, 23 Sean Maitland.
